Battle Rating and vehicle Rank answer different questions. When a new vehicle changes the matches you face, inspect its Battle Rating for the mode you are playing before concluding that your account level is responsible.
What is Battle Rating for?
The official War Thunder wiki describes Battle Rating as a way to match vehicles by in-game performance. Historical age is not the same as matchmaking strength. Mode matters too: read the rating shown for the activity you actually queue for, rather than assuming that a number from another mode applies.
How should you inspect a lineup?
Our recommended habit is to review the entire lineup before adding an unlocked vehicle. Ask whether the vehicles you expect to use still make sense together and whether you understand the new vehicle’s role. Avoid treating a new unlock as an automatic improvement to every match. A lineup is a set of options, not just your single favorite vehicle.
A better first learning goal
Choose one vehicle and practice a specific skill, such as positioning, aiming or recognizing a dangerous approach. After a defeat, review the tactical decision as well as the vehicle statistics.
