Strategy Games

Spixla Editorial · Source-based guidance · Checked 6 September 2026

Choose strategy games by the decisions you want to make: grow a kingdom, develop a fleet, or keep a settlement running. These are different play styles, even when they share upgrades and alliances.

Choose your play style

Kingdom building

Develop a settlement and learn how armies, resources and alliances fit together. Start with a beginner guide before copying advanced competitive builds.

Space strategy

Choose this direction when ships, crews and interstellar progression interest you more than a historical setting. Compare the actual progression systems, not just the artwork.

Survival planning

If managing scarce resources is the attraction, look at settlement-oriented games. Check whether the current gameplay gives you the kind of planning you enjoy.

Which should you try first?

If you want a civilization theme, begin with Rise of Kingdoms. For a familiar science-fiction setting and ship progression, explore Star Trek Fleet Command. If you prefer settlement resource problems, read our Tiles Survive guide first.

Platform is a separate check

A Windows campaign is not a complete list of a game’s platforms. Confirm the publisher’s current requirements and your region before installing. Free-to-play also does not mean every item or progression option is free.
