The official overview combines trader life, ship cabins, champion recruitment and exploration. This is the FunPlus game, not the unrelated medieval city-builder also named Foundation.
Rather than treating fleet power as the only decision, look at the relationship between your ships and characters. The publisher’s Fleet Power guide identifies a counter cycle: Beam has an advantage against Kinetic, Kinetic against Ionic, and Ionic against Beam. It also documents energy-type matching and formation order. These give a beginner more useful questions than simply asking which portrait is rarest.
Who should consider it?
Consider it if you like science-fiction factions, experimenting with formations and building a shared plan with a guild. It has several reasons to revisit a developing account, rather than presenting itself as one short, finished adventure.
